An 18-hole championship course set within 100 hectares of historic castle grounds in Lindberg. 650 to 750m above sea level, course length 6,000m, par 72. Rushing streams, calm lakes, ancient deciduous trees. Season: May to October.
Deggendorf Golf Club in Rusel
An 18-hole course at the Ruselsattel pass near Deggendorf, par 72. Natural water hazards, undulating fairways at a range of elevations. Around every corner: views of Mt Lusen, Mt Rachel, Mt Arber, and the Danube plain. And in winter: indoor golf at the Rusel Arena.

Winter activities worth the cold
Skiing
The Grosser Arber ski area: just 15km away and the largest in the Bavarian Forest. 13km of runs ranging from blue to black, 6 lifts, 5km of ski touring routes, 1,050 to 1,456m above sea level. Night skiing until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Hiking
Signposted snowshoe and winter walking trails on Mt Grosser Arber. Through deep snow and high forest, past views you won’t forget, up to 1,456m above sea level. Clear air. Clear thoughts. Nothing but forest and snow. Snowshoe hire included.
Cross-country skiing
The Bretterschachten Activity Centre is one of the most snow-reliable cross-country skiing areas in Central Europe. From 1,100 to 1,300m above sea level. 114km of cross-country trails, skating and classic-style side by side, natural snow. From the beginners’ circuit around the stadium to the challenging 18km circuit on Mt Grosser Arber. The standout: the 30km Auerhahn high-altitude cross-country ski trail.
Biathlon
Biathlon at the Hohenzollern Ski Stadium. Regional training centre at Lake Grosser Arbersee, 950m above sea level, a regular venue for IBU competitions. Bookable all year round: prone and standing shooting, skating course, and timed biathlon session. Equipment provided.
Tobogganing
The 2,100m Scherau natural toboggan run: from the Arber High Road to the finish line, almost on Cubea’s doorstep.
500m natural toboggan run on Mt Silberberg: take the chairlift up, enjoy a safe descent even under lighter snow conditions thanks to gentle snowmaking.
1,200m natural toboggan run on Mt Grosser Arber: from the summit of the “King of the Bavarian Forest” straight down to the Thurnhofstüberl restaurant. No adventure park, no queues. Nothing but natural snow and real slopes. The ski bus brings you back.
